Lead Faculty are members of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital and full-time Emergency Physicians.

We are committed educators and experienced ACLS Instructors.  

Dr. Brian Weitzman

Brian is a member of the ACLS Advisory Group at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. He has been an ACLS Course Director for 27 years, and is Director of the High Fidelity Simulation Program in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Brian has received several teaching awards including the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine Award of Excellence, the DEM Teaching Award for Undergraduate Education, and the DEM Postgraduate PGY1 Teaching Award. He is an Associate Professor with the Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Ottawa.

Dr. Richard Dionne

Richard is a Medical Director for the Regional Paramedic Program of Eastern Ontario. He has a special interest in resuscitation medicine and advanced airway techniques. He has been teaching ACLS for 15 years and ATLS for 13 years. He has won several teaching awards including the Department of Emergency Medicine Teaching Award and PGY-1 Teaching Award. Richard is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa. 

Dr. Larry Norman

Larry is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa.  He has been an ACLS Instructor since 2004, and is also a High Fidelity Simulation Instructor. He has a special interest in procedural sedation and analgesia and airway management.
